Applicants of the PRSA Diversity Multicultural Scholarship must be full-time undergraduate students at an accredited four-year college or university, majoring or minoring in public relations or enrolled in communications at a school that does not offer a public relations degree, be entering their junior year in the fall of the year the award is offered, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be of African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, Alaskan Native or Pacific Islander ancestry. PRSSA membership is preferred, but is not a requirement.ADVERTISEMENT
Besides completing the application form, applicants must also submit: a current academic transcript of all college/university courses completed; a letter of recommendation from a PRSA member or an individual associated with the public relations profession (corporate, agency, government, non-profit) or higher education; and a typed, double-spaced two page essay in English on an assigned topic. Established in 1989 by PRSA’s Multicultural Affairs Committee, the PRSA Diversity Multicultural Scholarship annually assists and recognizes young men and women for outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the practice of public relations.
