Scholarship Description
The Center for Public Integrity (CPI) is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to producing original, responsible investigative journalism that reveals the causes and effect of inequality. Discriminatory systems in employment, housing, health care, education and access to democracy affect people based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, immigration status and income. Our data-driven and narrative journalism holds powerful interests accountable, investigates solutions and places problems within the historical context of inequality in America.ADVERTISEMENT
American University offers the CPI Charles Lewis Fellowship to graduate students. Qualified candidates should: have experience and/or interest in data-driven investigative journalism; interest in reporting on inequality ; deep reporting experience; and strong writing skills. To be eligible, applicants must: have applied and been accepted to the MA in journalism and public affairs; be enrolled full-time (9 credits or more); and be a US citizen or permanent resident. The fellow will earn a $30,000 stipend and receive 100% tuition. The fellow is responsible for fees and health insurance.
