Scholarship Description
Chaparral High School Seniors who have declared a degree interest in the area of language arts, teaching, journalism, research or drama are eligible for the Jean L. Jensen Language Arts Scholarship. Apart from completing the application, applicants must also submit one personal reference letter, a copy of the proof of admissions letter, and a personal essay addressing one of the following questions in a one-page typed essay: (1) What are your plans for your future? (2) What literary chapter has inspired you and why? (3) How has technology had an impact on your learning?ADVERTISEMENT
Jean Jensen was a language arts teacher for USD 361 for many years and although known for having a rigorous curriculum, her students cherished the skills she taught and the care she gave. Many students became life-long friends and would often tell her of the appreciation they had for the life lessons she gave. This scholarship was her only bequest. It will be awarded to Chaparral High School graduates for their freshman year tuition and books expenses.
