Scholarships are funds that are awarded to students to use toward their education, and don’t need to be repaid. Some scholarships and funding opportunities are given based on merit (academic achievement), some are based on need, and some are awarded for athletics and other skills. Virginia Commonwealth University considers all outstanding first-year applicants for university-level scholarships if you apply for the fall semester by November 1. Many scholarships are offered.
Four-year scholarships are renewable for up to three consecutive years if recipients complete at least 28 credit hours on a full-time basis over the fall and spring semesters and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better. The Virginia Commonwealth University Deans' Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees up to $8,000 per year (maximum amount of $4,000 per semester). The estimated total value of this four-year award is approximately $32,000.
