The California Strawberry Growers' Scholarship Fund was established by the state's strawberry farmers in 1995 to enable children of strawberry field workers, to continue their education and career goals. Funds awarded can be applied toward any scholastic or vocational education program at any accredited institution chosen by the student. A scholarship means more than a degree. Families and communities win when their students go to college. The California Strawberry Growers' Scholarship Fund provides more than $150,000 every year to support the higher education of children of strawberry field workers. All students must reapply each year for continuing funding. Applications and re-applications are reviewed annually by the Scholarship Fund Allocations Committee. The scholarship recipients are the sons and daughters of the very families who form a crucial foundation for the California strawberry community.ADVERTISEMENT
First-time applicants must have a parent who is currently employed as a California strawberry fieldworker for the current and prior two harvest seasons.
