Scholarship Description

To be eligible for consideration for the ASCAP Foundation Leiber and Stoller Scholarship for Songwriting, an entrant must: be a high school senior who will enroll in a four-year college or university level music program on a full-time basis during the upcoming academic year; be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or enrolled student with a valid and current U.S. student visa; be a musician, songwriter, composer, lyricist, arranger and who writes original works; and not be currently signed to a “major” publishing, record or administrative deal, as determined by the Foundation in its sole discretion.

The late Jerry Leiber and his partner Mike Stoller, writer of such hits as “Hound Dog,” “Kansas City,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Stand By Me,” “On Broadway,” and “Is That All There Is?” developed and funded The ASCAP Foundation Leiber & Stoller Scholarship program. This scholarship provides assistance to high school seniors who will be attending college majoring in music. They should be aspiring songwriters, musicians or vocalists who will study at a college or university.
