The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's educational programs are a significant part of the Show's goals of benefiting youth, supporting education, and facilitating better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation. All recipients of Show scholarships must demonstrate academic potential, citizenship/leadership and financial need, and they must attend a Texas college or university. To be eligible for the Go Texan Scholarship, applicants must: be a US citizen; be a graduating senior from a public high school in one of the 68 participating counties and plan on attending an accredited, not-for-profit Texas college or university (accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges).
Ed Bradley is best known for his award-winning work in 26 years on CBS News’ 60 Minutes and as the first African American White House TV correspondent. Bradley received the Paul White Award from RTDNA in 2000 recognizing his lifetime commitment to RTDNA and the First Amendment Award from RTDNF in 2005 in recognition of his support of First Amendment rights. He passed away in 2006. Students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism. Winners must be officially enrolled, full-time sophomores or above in good standing when scholarships are awarded in September.
The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship provides an opportunity for students to advance their education in anti-fraud career paths. Applicants must be enrolled 9 semester hours (or equivalent) per term if undergraduate or 6 semester hours (or equivalent) per term if graduate level. Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited, four-year college or university with enrollment throughout the academic year and have a declared major or minor in accounting, business administration, finance or criminal justice and demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in fraud examination or similar anti-fraud profession. Scholarships are awarded annually based on a completed application, fraud-related interests, activities, goals and desired career path, overall academic achievement demonstrated by transcripts and recommendation forms.
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation - the federal memorial to our thirty-third President - awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government. Applicants must be nominated by the Truman Scholarship Faculty Representative at their institution. Applicants must be full-time college juniors or seniors, in the upper quarter of their class and U.S. citizens (or American Samoa).
